Subject: BITS Pilani RE: Update

Dear Sukrit/Sudheer,

I can appreciate the concern, let me try to answer point wise :

1. Some bank wd need to install the EDC machines, Pilani as such does
not have a potential for cards business. The existing banks are not in the
business of installing EDC m/c’s. which ICICI does.

2. The best possible solution which I am trying to workout is of
Internet
enabled Bank accounts from which all payments could be made to BITS
online.
Students wd need to log into BITS site with their ID/password, check
dues against their names and there itself click to pay online. This wd
redirect them to ICICI Bank netbanking portal wherein they cd affect the
payment from their accounts which wd have been funded by their parents from
anywhere in the country. BITS records wd get updated from the confrimation from our
server and BITS cd then generate required MIS. The accounts wd come with
other features like Debit Card, phone banking, sms alerts etc.

Online Semester & Bill Payments in itself is a major part of this
work
and the convenience online banking wd offer to students wd over a
period of
time appreciate the advantages. They cd also make their mobile bill and
other subscription payments online.

3. The requirement of a nominal min balance is to ensure that accounts
are
used and not just opened and left, as each account opened in system
has a
recurring cost involved. We can relook at the minimum balance required
amount.

Please feel assured that, we will not close any possibility for
permanent
and our current offering is purely based on current product
availability and
market situation. We would definitely keep sharing with BITS all
developments that may happen in our product line which cd be of
benefit to Students of Pilani.

Warm Regards

My AudiDebate Conclusion Speech…

Before somebody accuses me of losing my manners, I’d like to thank all those present here for listening attentively. A special thanks to BITS pilani and the election commission for allowing me to address everyone here. You’ve heard what I’ve had to say. You know what I propose. I just want all of you to know what a privilege it is to address you and hopefully, to lead you in whatever capacity you allow me too. BITS Pilani has given me a lot till now. Our alumni who are so supportive gave me the role of BITSAA campus co-ordinator for the campaign “Lets promote BITS Pilani”, which made me realize that it’s my turn to give back to BITS now & for that, I need my team. And my TEAM is all of you sitting out there. Yes, we, all of us need to work together in improving ourselves, our cities and OUR nation…….it all starts here. Ladies and gentlemen, BITS PILANI.

Thank you all, you’ve been a great audience.

My AudiDebate Opening Speech…

I have been told I’ve 5 minutes to speak here.5 minutes in which I’m supposed to explain my dreams and my vision.

IMPOSSIBLE TASK!!!

So, here’s making the first impossible possible.

I am Sudheer, bearing identification number 2007c6PS503P, and I intend to be the president of OUR students’ union very soon.

Good evening everyone. I was told by someone today as if to speak to the average BITSian. In turn, I told him, I AM the average BITSian. I am like one of you who wakes up every morning with the same dreams and desires, the same nagging feeling to do something useful. So, I’ve decided to take on that feeling, that desire, that dream & to convert it into something each one of us can benefit from. It’s a difficult road to becoming a leader and even more difficult accomplishing what you promise. But, in my diction, actions speak louder than words. And I proved that to all the Vyas inmates last year. Each point I promised, I delivered. And I’m here to do it again if you give me the chance.

There are two attributes I have admired in my idol Subhash Chandra Bose -TENACITY and PASSION .Some thing which he possessed in huge quantity and something which I make an attempt at everyday. For, I know, to make a change, you need to be it .Its not just some phrase of Gandhi, but the very ideal I live by.

I will give you my word on my honor that like before I will RISE to the occasion, I WILL make the difference , I WILL NOT give up  and I will make my dream a REALITY.
For those of you who haven’t read my manifesto or heard me saying it before, here is what I propose:

Smart card
Vaishvikaran-the global social initiative
Mentorship and career facilitation network
Recreational facilities like horse riding & pool tables
Facilitating placements and
Economic travel solutions which for the first time, include air travel as well.

Promises Fullfilled…..

Stepping into an unfamiliar and often hostile world with unknown faces, my first experience with the BITSian election system wasn’t really pleasant. The bevy of faces, with their myriad manifesto points and issues, talking to you day and night was a tad bit unnerving. Two weeks into campus, we weren’t all too familiar with the issues that would concern us. But among this sea of faces, Sudheer stood out from the rest in his modesty and sincerity. His manifesto points did not promise the moon, but did promise a comfortable existence.

And he delivered on his promises. Sudheer’s appearances in the wings of Vyas asking about the problems the students there were facing continued in the same vein after he won the elections. Test papers would be given to all the wings of the Bhawan a few days before the tests and the schedules of tests along with room numbers put up on the hostel notice boards. He even took an initiative to give us the e-books and previous years’ lecture slides in the times when we were yet to realize the wonders of DC++.

Sudheer’s guidance in the academic sphere was not the end of it. He also started a IntraBhawan Technological Exhibition of sorts. This was started to showcase to the students, specially first yearites, how a  Techfest works and also provided them with help and ideas on their own projects.

One of his very ambitious points was to introduce a second Badminton Court in the hostel. But he fulfilled this promise like all the others he had made. The formalities took some time, but soon the other QT had a badminton court, making Vyas Bhawan one of the few where the extra space had been put to good use.

The mass booking of cabs and train tickets were another point that was carried out to the hilt. The breaks, be it mid-sem or at the end of semesters, went smoothly with a word to Sudheer enough to ensure a hassle free journey.

Sudheer has an eye for details. This, combined with his passion for charity, created a very efficient system in which newspapers would be collected from our rooms and sold off, with the money going to the NGO NIRMAAN. The transparency in his work was highlighted when at the end of each month he would put up the exact amount contributed in the month.

So, we beleive that he’ll show the same kind of commitment when he becomes the president.
