Promises Fullfilled…..

Stepping into an unfamiliar and often hostile world with unknown faces, my first experience with the BITSian election system wasn’t really pleasant. The bevy of faces, with their myriad manifesto points and issues, talking to you day and night was a tad bit unnerving. Two weeks into campus, we weren’t all too familiar with the issues that would concern us. But among this sea of faces, Sudheer stood out from the rest in his modesty and sincerity. His manifesto points did not promise the moon, but did promise a comfortable existence.

And he delivered on his promises. Sudheer’s appearances in the wings of Vyas asking about the problems the students there were facing continued in the same vein after he won the elections. Test papers would be given to all the wings of the Bhawan a few days before the tests and the schedules of tests along with room numbers put up on the hostel notice boards. He even took an initiative to give us the e-books and previous years’ lecture slides in the times when we were yet to realize the wonders of DC++.

Sudheer’s guidance in the academic sphere was not the end of it. He also started a IntraBhawan Technological Exhibition of sorts. This was started to showcase to the students, specially first yearites, how a  Techfest works and also provided them with help and ideas on their own projects.

One of his very ambitious points was to introduce a second Badminton Court in the hostel. But he fulfilled this promise like all the others he had made. The formalities took some time, but soon the other QT had a badminton court, making Vyas Bhawan one of the few where the extra space had been put to good use.

The mass booking of cabs and train tickets were another point that was carried out to the hilt. The breaks, be it mid-sem or at the end of semesters, went smoothly with a word to Sudheer enough to ensure a hassle free journey.

Sudheer has an eye for details. This, combined with his passion for charity, created a very efficient system in which newspapers would be collected from our rooms and sold off, with the money going to the NGO NIRMAAN. The transparency in his work was highlighted when at the end of each month he would put up the exact amount contributed in the month.

So, we beleive that he’ll show the same kind of commitment when he becomes the president.
